Dr. Fernando Cabieses:

Dr. Fernando Cabieses, a wellknown neurologist and neurosurgeon, has long worked in the scientific and academic fields in and outside Peru. He has been a pioneer in the development of national neurology and neurosurgery. He is Professor Emeritus at the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos and Honorary Professor at the Universities of Trujillo, Piura, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Cusco, Arequipa and Garcilaso de la Vega. He is also Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Miami, Florida, with residence in Lima where he performs a great surgical activity.

For the last twenty years, he has added to his neurological activities an intensive work in the study of Peruvian Traditional Medicine. He has made important research in ethno-pharmacology and ethno-botany. Due to his investigations he became member of the World Health Organization Committee for Traditional Medicine and is the chairman of the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Tradicional del Peru, a branch of the Ministry of Helth.

Dr. Cabieses has written more than 20 books and almost 300 scientific papers on the above mentioned sciences.
