MANAXX is an aqueous extract of freeze-dried Uncaria tomentosa and, consequently, this natural resource native of the Peruvian Amazonia is its raw material.

The raw material of MANAXX is of wild origin or of spontaneous generation. Still there is not any agricultural handling of this resource although trials are being advanced to prove such possibility. These trials are about works in a secondary forest where its handling could apparently be done but, being Uncaria tomentosa native of the primary forest and lasting five years for the presence of active principles which give value to it, there is not any evidence of the justificatory technical economical feasibility to support a project of economic exploitation and large scale industrialization.

The extraction of wild Uncaria tomentosa in the form of barks, which is used to make MANAXX, has as volumetric reference the estimations of the biomass of this Peruvian medicinal plant which would surpass the 900,000 MT according to statistics revealed at the National Seminar of Forest Products Different to Wood. Limitations of industrial installed capacity for freeze-drying permit to plan a production of 30’000,000 boxes of MANAXX of 30 tablets of 90 net mg of extract at maximum monoproducer capacity.

The maximum requirement of raw material would be of the order of 3,000 MT per year.

Extraction of the bark does not commit life of Uncaria tomentosa because it is equivalent to a pruning which originates in the limb the sprout of several other stems which since 3 years old are apt for a new extraction. Risks of extinction do not have to be a reason to worry for a project of such importance, which annually does not need more than a third of one percent of the estimated reserves, keeping in mind the capacity and chronogram of autoregeneration of the plant.

However, it would imply the absolute leadership in the exploitation of the resource, as the registered maximum national annual volume of extraction of Uncaria tomentosa does not reach 1,000 MT.

For that purpose, regarding to raw material, logistics for its supply would constitute essential basis only possible by advanced planning which consider the season for its extraction and moving, the stability of prices and the schedules of industrial production and shipment.

Uncaria tomentosa is also found in other Amazonian countries crossed by the Andes, but, as it is a primary forest plant, whose extraction is explained by the tradition of its use by native communities, it just denotes in Peru that background and ability, ignored by the neighbors.

The primary forest demands the extractors to enter with cutlass and to have an specific knowledge of the resource to be extracted, and this is only attained by the experience of use in the ancestral medicine. Only Peru owns the tradition of the immemorial use of Uncaria tomentosa and, therefore, its extraction is possible. The rest of the countries, not knowing the resource that they have in their primary forests, do not have the elemental conditions for its extraction.
